Pantoum for Clouds

We slept upon the forest floor
because the ground was soft and warm.
And dreamt as satyrs torn from war
that rendered sadness all forlorn.

Because the ground was soft and warm
the serpents made their peace with sky,
and dreamt as satyrs torn from war
though life itself was reason why.

The serpents made their peace with sky
who wandered lonely without cloud.
Though life itself was reason why
the rain fell steady, true and proud.

Who wandered lonely without cloud?
The azure dome a friend to make
the rain fall steady. True and proud
we justify the path we take.

The azure dome a friend to make
because the ground was soft and warm.
We justify the path we take
that renders sadness, all forlorn.
